Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco - an Canadian as well as an American musician and singer. She has released many studio records. Her music is categorized as folk, alternative and rock but she also draws influences from jazz and hip-hop. Ani Difranco has been widely acknowledged as a pioneer of music that is feminist. In the year 1990 she was one of the first to establish her own label independently. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd of 1970, she was the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco and Dante Americo DiFranco, who met while attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The parents of her mother and father were both of Montreal descent. Ani diFranco composed and sang the track 32 Flavors. The track is part of her album Not a Pretty Girl, that was her sixth studio release. Another version of the track is included on the film soundtrack for 1999's Canadian romance film Better Than Chocolate. In 2013 DiFranco apologized when it was discovered that she planned to host the three-day event on a former Louisiana plantation for slaves. The event was cancelled, but some (including the media) didn't see it as a sign of regret. DiFranco issued a new apology two days after the first. Although she's known as Little Peoplesinger, she's worked with many musicians and artists, from Pete Seeger through Chuck D all the way to Prince. New Orleans is where she is based. Ani was born Kristen Ford. The first song she wrote was at the age of 14. She continued to perform them at coffee houses and bars during her teens. DiFranco started attending Buffalo State College when she was 16 and a half years old. She graduated in the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts in the year she was 16.
